My professional trajectory

My career in the medical field has been a dynamic and rewarding journey. I have had the privilege of serving in various capacities, from working as an Army Medical Officer in Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps where coordinate with Army Hospital, Colombo, Sri Lanka. While I serve in Army I have provided my dedication and commitment and able to work across Primary Care Centres, Army Base Hospitals, and Field Hospitals in peripheral areas of Sri Lanka, as well as at the Army Hospital in Colombo.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I served as a Medical Officer in charge of COVID-19 units, HDUs, intermediate centres, and quarantine centres. My experience also extends to part-time duties at Cardiology unit and Renal ICU and Dialysis unit Lanka Hospital PVT LTD Colombonand Kingsbury Hotel Colombo. I have also worked as a Medical Officer in the Accident & Emergency Unit at Durdans Hospital, Colombo, Sri Lanka after I retired from Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps. While performing duties I were able to get certified as Special needs educational management and work as a Medical Officer in charge at Aspire to Wisdom Special Needs Education Centre, Colombo, then to Bright Stars Special Needs Education & Counseling Centre, Matale. Additionally, I have participated in several field medical duties, charity services, outreach clinics, and medical campaigns as well

Proud moments and significant contributions

I take immense pride in my contributions during both my Army Medical career and my tenure as a Medical Officer at Durdans Hospital, where I had the opportunity to serve as an auditor. These roles allowed me to develop a keen eye for detail and uphold the highest standards of medical practice and operational efficiency.

Each experience has been instrumental in shaping my professional identity, reinforcing my dedication to patient care, and fostering leadership in challenging environments. These accomplishments reflect my commitment to excellence and my continuous pursuit of impactful medical service.

Key skills and expertise

Throughout my professional life, I have honed a comprehensive set of medical and leadership skills. These include expertise in basic medical and surgical terminology, clinical risk management, health and safety protocols and procedures. I am proficient in internal medicine procedures, emergency procedures, surgical procedures, paediatric procedures, and psychiatry and geriatric procedures.

I have arranged and participated in numerous field medical and surgical campaigns, particularly in rural areas. My career highlights also include effective workmanship and strong cooperation with United Nations medical officers and staff from the USA to educate soldiers in the Sri Lanka Army Force on Advanced Trauma Life Support and the usage of the latest equipment. I have also been involved in de-mining and dangerous operational areas to facilitate initial medical management, engaged in the frontline battle for the elimination of COVID-19 infection, and conducted educational and awareness programmes on communicable and non-communicable disease management. Furthermore, I have participated in VIP/VVIP first aid, demonstrating solid leadership and team-working skills along with the ability to provide effective support.
